About Jacob Medler | Windsor Wedding Photographer & Videographer

Hey There, I’m Jacob!

I love Love.

Ever since a friend asked me to photograph her wedding, I was hooked. Wedding photography has become my greatest passion and I fell in love with all of it: all the nervous excitement, joyous screams, quiet moments, and heartfelt tears. The day is full of so much raw human connection and I am constantly looking for the moments that reveal true love. My goal is to capture moments that truly mean something for my couples.

It’s In My Blood

It was meant to be

Ever since I was a kid, I was fascinated by capturing a moment in time. I love how one image can hold so much meaning. It can make you laugh or make you cry. It can make you remember a moment forgotten or make you think differently. I used to steal my mom’s camera just to take photos and videos of anything. That passion never left me.

The Journey That Shapes My Work

A bit more about what I like

These days you’ll often find me out on a run in my town, Amherstburg. I’ve been training for my first marathon. Running pushes me beyond what I ever thought possible, and that drive transfers over to every part of my life.

I love to travel. I’ve been fortunate enough to travel to many countries but my favourites are the places less traveled. I’ve hitchhiked across Montenegro, went a week without a phone in Guatemala, rode motorbikes through northern Vietnam, and explored abandoned military bases from the Soviet Union. Each trip has given me new perspectives on life, taught me more about the world, about myself, and made me even more grateful for what I have.

I enjoy the simple pleasures too: a morning latte, a glass of wine while cooking, sunsets, campfires, and any excuse to be outdoors with good company. I’ll longboard, rock climb, or go canoeing when the weather’s right.

I love to learn. I’ve taught myself very basic Spanish which has unlocked so many amazing conversations while traveling. And I am also always listening to a book or a podcast.

I LOVE to laugh. It’s probably my favourite thing to do. I like to see people smile. And yes, I cry too. Whether it’s moved by a wedding, a film, or a cherished memory. Feeling things deeply is what makes us human. It’s why I connect so strongly with the stories I get to capture.

My Camera Roll

A good addiction

I sometimes need to take a photo just to trigger a memory. So my phone is always getting full and my camera roll has become my journal. I take photos of everything. The places I go, the things I do, the food I cook and most importantly, the people I love. But my favourite ones always take me right back to the moment. Everything I was feeling comes flooding back in. It’s a strange feeling. All of a sudden I am living that moment again. Usually it makes me laugh or brings feelings of nostalgia back in.

I take this same approach for when I photograph weddings. I document everything, so nothing is missed. I focus on documenting the real moments. The laughter and the tears. The big moments and all the little ones you might have missed. So that when you look back on your photos years from now, you’re right back in the moment.
